*Weekend Pass* to Seeing with Fresh Eyes in NYC's Chinatown with Amy Ventures

by Mu-Hsien Hsieh Lee in ,

Calling all color lovers! Through her #colorventures lens, @amyventures shows us a side of Chinatown you might not expect! As a child, Chinatown lost its luster from all the routine trips to grandma's house...now, trips are still routine, yet by constantly challenging herself to see it with fresh eyes, she now has a completely different appreciation for it.

Meet your color hunting neighbor, Amy Chen!

Veggie, fruit, and seafood markets / stands line every single street.

I am always in awe of the vibrant hot pink color of the dragonfruit that can often be found amongst the exotic selection of produce!

The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory has been in business for 30+ years and is located on Bayard Street right in the heart of Chinatown.

Pictured flavors: taro and egg custard!

FDNY engine 9 ladder 6 fights dragons, not fires.

I love that Chinatown's fire department embraces the personality of this traditional Chinese symbol of power, strength, and good luck.

Lastly, I love that Chinatown coincides with the lower east side.

I find myself constantly inspired by the city's street art, and this koi mural by Brazilian street artist Binho Ribeiro, caught my eye at the intersection of Eldridge Street and Canal! Thanks for tuning in to my takeover! It was so much fun to share my colorful view of Chinatown with you all.
